On July 1, 2011 the Protecting Our Student Athletes Act went into effect in Illinois, requiring all schools to adopt a policy relative to concussions sustained by student athletes. On August 22, 2011 the IC Athletic Committee amended our By-Laws to include such a policy. That policy is attached, as well as a Concussion Information Sheet that has to be signed by a parent of any IC student athlete before he or she can participate in IC athletics. You can also find links here to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) website, which provides additional information about concussions, as well a link to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website, which also provides detailed information about sports-related concussions.
